The purpose of the formation is to prepare our volunteers for their experience. Upon acceptance, our volunteers attend a formation retreat prior to departure. The purpose of the retreat is to focus on cross cultural and Salesian formation. At the end of the retreat there is a commissioning ceremony. After our volunteers have left for their placements they are required to keep in touch with the Director of the Cagliero Project via email and phone. The Director supports the volunteers while overseas and continues with formation. Upon arriving home to Australia the volunteers attend a series of debriefing sessions to help settle back into life.
